Dengue update

During the last 7 months of the year 2014, 22876 suspected dengue cases have been reported to the Epidemiology Unit from all over the island.

Latest Disease Trends,

Approximately 57.58% of dengue cases were reported from the Western province. The highest numbers of dengue cases were reported during the twenty fifth week of 2014.

This situation warrants regular removal of possible mosquito breeding sites from the environment. It is also important to seek medical attention in the event of fever by day three of the illness.

2014 වර්ෂයේ ගත වූ මාස 7 තුළදී, ඩෙංගු බවට සැක කෙරෙන රෝගීන් 22876 ක් දිවයින මුළුල්ලෙන්ම වසංගත රෝග විද්‍යා ඒකකයට වාර්තා වී ඇත.

ඩෙංගු රෝගීන්ගෙන් ආසන්න වශයෙන් 57.58% ක් පමණ වාර්තා වූයේ බස්නාහිර පළාතෙනි. වැඩිම ඩෙංගු රෝගීන් සංඛ්‍යාව වාර්තා වූයේ 25වන සතිය තුළදීය.

මදුරුවන් බෝවීමට ඉඩ ඇති ස්ථාන පරිසරයෙන් අඛණ්ඩව ඉවත් කිරීම් අවශ්‍යතාව මෙම තත්ත්වය මගින් පෙන්නුම් කෙරේ. එමෙන්ම උණ රෝගය වැළඳීමෙන් දින තුනක් ඉකුත් වූ පසුත් රෝගය පවතී නම් වෛද්‍ය ප්‍රතිකාර ලබා ගැනීම වැදගත් වේ.

இவ் வருடத்தின் 7 மாதங்களில் 22876 சந்தேகப்படும் டெங்கு நோய்களும்,  தீவு பூராகவுமுள்ள எல்லா நோய்பரவுகை கட்டுப்பாட்டியல் அலகிற்கு அறிக்கை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அண்ணளவாக 57.58% அளவான டெங்கு தாக்கங்கள் மேல் மாகாணத்திலிருந்து அறிக்கையிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதிகளவிலான டெங்கு தாக்கங்களின் எண்ணிக்கையானது 25 மாதத்தின்பொழுது அறிக்கையிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்நிலைமையானதுநுளம்பைப் பரப்புவகைகளை சூழலில் இருந்து ஒழுங்குக் கிரமமாக அகற்ற வேண்டியதை வேண்டிநிற்கிறது. அதேவேளையில் நோயில்

3 நாள் காய்ச்சல் இருக்கும் சந்தரப்பங்களில் மருத்துவ கவனத்தை தேடுவதும் முக்கியமானதாக உள்ளது.

කළුබෝවිල රෝහලේ වෛද්‍යවරයෙකුට, හෙදියන් දෙදෙනකුට හා ලිපිකාරිනියකට ඩෙංගු උණ වැළඳී ඔවුන් එහි හතර වැනි වාට්‌ටුවේ නේවාසිකව ප්‍රතිකාර ලබන බව එම රෝහල් අධ්‍යක්‍ෂ වෛද්‍ය අසේල ගුණවර්ධන මහතා "දිවයින"ට ඊයේ (28 දා) පැවැසීය.

රෝගී වූ වෛද්‍යවරයා හා රෝහල් සේවකයින් තිදෙනා දින තුනක සිට නේවාසික ප්‍රතිකාර ලබන බවද හෙතෙම කීය.

පසුගිය මාස කීපය තුළදී කළුබෝවිල රෝහලේ වෛද්‍යවරුන් හා හෙදියන් ඇතුළු කාර්ය මණ්‌ඩලයේ සේවය කරන බොහෝ දෙනෙකු ඩෙංගු වැළඳී ප්‍රතිකාර ලබාගත් බවද හෙතෙම කියා සිටියේය. මේ වන විටත් ඩෙංගු වැළඳුණු ළමා හා වැඩිහිටි රෝගීන් 160 දෙනෙකු රෝහල් වාට්‌ටුවල ප්‍රතිකාර ලබන බවද එක්‌ ඇඳක රෝගීන් දෙදෙනා බැගින් රඳවා තිබෙන බවද අධ්‍යක්‍ෂවරයා පැවැසීය.

රෝහල් පරිශ්‍රය සතියකට වරක්‌ පිරිසිදු කළද රෝහල වටා පදිංචිව සිටින නිවැසියන් ඔවුන්ගේ නිවෙස්‌ අවට ශුද්ධ පවිත්‍ර කිරීමක්‌ කෙරෙහි යොමු නොවීමෙන් ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් බහුලව බෝවී ඇතැයිද වාර්තාවේ.

Latest Disease Trends,

Approximately 51.55% of dengue cases were reported from the Western province. The highest numbers of dengue cases were reported during the third week of January.

This situation warrants regular removal of possible mosquito breeding sites from the environment. It is also important to seek medical attention in the event of fever by day three of the illness.

இவ் வருடத்தின் 12 மாதங்களில் 31876 சந்தேகப்படும் டெங்கு நோய்களும்,  தீவு பூராகவுமுள்ள எல்லா நோய்பரவுகை கட்டுப்பாட்டியல் அலகிற்கு அறிக்கை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

2013 වර්ෂයේ ගත වූ මාස 12 තුළදී, ඩෙංගු බවට සැක කෙරෙන රෝගීන් 31876 ක් දිවයින මුළුල්ලෙන්ම වසංගත රෝග විද්‍යා ඒකකයට වාර්තා වී ඇත.

The spread of dengue still remains at a dangerous level as 293 patients were reported from the 1st of this month up until today only from Colombo.
4 dengue related deaths have also been reported. Accordingly Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal council Dr Pradeep Kariyawasam stated that the public should be aware to combat the dengue menace. He also stated that a special programme will be held from the 8th of February to create awareness among the public to combat the dengue menace.

Dengue risk heightens in Colombo

Several areas in Colombo are faced with a risk of reaching epidemic levels. Dehiwala, Katubedda and Moratuwa MOH areas are undergoing an increase in the spread of Dengue, while Kohuwala, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa and Angoda MOH Areas are reported to reach epidemic levels in the near future.

The Ministry of Health will be implementing a special programme in schools located in major cities prone to dengue.

The Health Ministry advise to use only paracetamol as a form of medication and not to use other form of medication for fever without medical advise as such drugs can cause internal bleeding in dengue patients.

The public are also requested to maintain clean surroundings and to seek immediate medical assistance if fever persists for more than two days,

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, compared to 2012, there has been a decline of 25 percent in the year 2013 in the number of Dengue patients being reported.

Ayurveda doctor Tharanga Kumari Wickramasuriya of Herumanagoda, Ambalangoda was felicitated for her invention of an Ayurveda drug to heal dengue fever. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva.

The drug invented following years of experiments by Dr. Tharanga has been approved and recommended by the Ayurveda Medical Board as a drug for dengue.

Thousands of dengue patients have been successfully healed by this Ayurveda treatment. Dr. Tharanga also invented a drug to raise the immunity of HIV affected patients by 100 percent which has also been recommended by the Ayurvedic Medical Board.

A past pupil of Aluthwala Maha Vidyalaya and Galle Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, she graduated from the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical College. Her father is also a traditional snake-bite physician.

Provincial Councillors and Southern Province officials participated in the ceremony.
